M40 camshaft looks ridged?

Engine's been a bit more tappy than usual this last few days, so whipped off the rocker cover to check the cam and the lobes above the two front-most cylinders have got scoring on them. It's not very deep but would this be enough to cause the increase in noise? I blew the spray bay out with compressed air and it seemed to free up the ports on the bar.

Is this the end for this camshaft or is there any chance of saving it?

Need pics really to be able to comment.
Some slight scoring is OK but you need to check the rockers as well for wear.

Maybe your hydrolic lifters may need replacing...what oil are you using?
