Hi,i swapped an engines on my e30 from m40 to m42 out off e36,all the wiring loom is from e30,ecu is from e30,so there is a problem-the engine turns over, but there is no spark and the fuel is not coming to the engine.

Have a search in the technical forum. I had engine swap troubles with my M42, it turned out to be stuck injectors but it took a few steps to get there.

IF you're certain there is no spark and no fuel pump activity when cranking, then the problem is either the CPS, as above, or whatever you've connected up wrongly.

Engine relays in the right sockets?
Check, with a 12 volt bulb NOT a meter, that you have power at the green wire of one of the coil pack plugs with the ignition on, and when the starter is engaged.
