Ok i have HID's fitted to my E30 but they are hellish bright and i am getting flashed every time i amout in the dark,
Now with the main beam being pretty poor, would it be possible to change over wiring to make the main beams come on when it should be dipped and then the HID's on when i am on full beam??
Hope that makes sence
Would it be as simple as swapping the live wires to each light?
Cheers
HID's HELP please

HID's do not like being switched on and off,I guess that you will have noticed that there's a 'warm up' period with them.
I trust that you have fitted a sensible level of light?
Say 3900 or so?
Is the aim of your dip beam too high?

Cheers for the reply, yeh i know about the warm up period but if they were only the full beam it woundlt matter too much, they were already fitted when i got the car so i am not sure what brightness they are,
, and yeah its too high also but i cant seem to adjust them with ease.

the "Full Beam" lamps have no beam pattern.
Check that your dipped beams are aimed correct.

There's two adjusters for each light unit, one adjusts up and down, the other, believe it or not, adjusts side to side.gmf_uk wrote:......

Now,you will need to soak the adjusters with WD40 or similar to stand any chance of making them function,it may well be that you will have to spend your next few weeks pocket money on buying some new adjuster bits, the good news is that all the parts are available.

Last time I looked, they were attached to the back of the light units!gmf_uk wrote:brilliant will give it a go, where are the adjusters? Thanks for your advice!
Two ways to access them;
1) Remove the plastic cover from under the bonnet
2) Remove the front grilles and the three large screws that secure the light units and pull the light units out
Second method is best if the adjusters have rusted....
