K reg 318i auto cabby, put the windows up when I parked yesterday, came out an hour later and the leccy windows no longer work!!!
Appears to be no power to the switches, they don't light up when the door is open or the lights are on... everything else still seems to work perfectly....

So what went wrong?

Which fuse does the windows??? They all look ok, but I need to cut off the cable tie arrangement the previous owner has used to keep the lid on!!!

Will have a very short time in the morning to look at and hopefully fix this, before I go away in the car for the weekend!!!! Typical!!!

A list of steps & ideas would be very useful and much appreciated!!!

Tried resetting the thermal cutout in front of the RH switches? The connectors that hold the two wires onto the bottom of this cutout aren't really physically up to the job they're asked to do, and have been known to fall off.
Alternatively, you could just have a fault in the circuit that has blown both fuse 17 and 28. Does the cigarette lighter socket work or the radio aerial go up and down?

Reset the cutout and it made no difference.
Lighter socket still works fine.
Radio aerial hasn't worked since I've had the car!!!

Hoping its just a fuse or loose connection somewhere obvious - I'll only have 5/10 mins to poke at it, when I get up in a few hours!!!

Is it ALL the windows, or just one? Power to the windows is switched between two fuses; with the door open its Fuse 28, and with the ignition on it's Fuse 17. This is switched by a relay, triggered by a pin switch in the doors.

It's rare that something will knock out both the door-open and ign-on circuits for all windows. To troubleshoot, read this:
