Backed the touring out of the garage this morning,it started fine.Switched it off whilst I closed the garage door and upon switching on the fuel pump failed to prime as usual and the engine cranked but failed to commence.
I immediately blamed the fuel pump and stripped the rear seat to test.Fuel pump tested OK with an indipendant power source.Swapped fuse 11,swapped FPR,spent £30 at GSF on a new CPS,but still the fuel pump is not switching in and I have no spark.
Looked at EWS,but it's clicking when the key is turned,so I think it's switching on.
Anyone got any ideas,please?

Still struggling with this, anyone know if the ECU plug pin layout matches M20?
In particular,I want to check the loom wiring for CPS....

This is turning into a bit of a marathon!
Started off today by extracting all 6 spark plugs to ease the load on the battery whilst I used the starter motor to manouvere the touring back up my back passage so I could work a bit closer to my toolbox.
I then proved by substitution with the same bits in the cabbie that the FPR and the DME relay were fine.I then fitted the new CPS to the cabbie, this,of course, turned into a bigger mission than I first thought, because the last time I did a cambelt on the cabbie the engine was on the garage floor,so I took the oppotunity to tuck both sensor wires and the oil light switch wire behind the bottom hose and zip tie them securely out of the way of the pulleys...
meaning that I had to not only remove the fan and shroud, but the bottom hose and coolant as well.I then discovered that although the M50 CPS would mount on the M20's fork bracket, the M20 sensor was just a fraction too big to slide into the cast bracket on the M50..so I re-assembled the front of the M20 with the M50 sensor and established that the engine would run, thus proving that the sensor was not my problem...then the bloody M20 proved difficult to bleed....
So for my day's labour,I now know all the vital bits for the M50 work, but still the bloody thing will not prime or start!
It's looking like the issue is between the sensor plug and the ECU,I have another ECU on loan,so that has eliminated ECU and EWS.
As always,all advice welcome....

Finally solved this,this morning.
My thoughts from the outset were fuel pump-related,but all checks indicated that the replacement pump was working.Only thing that I could not get was a 'priming squirt',which puzzled me for days.
I stripped and fully checked the CPS and it's wiring back to the ECU and found all was well.
I then removed the fuel pipe from the exit to the fuel filter,on the basis that the bloody pump was running but fuel was not reaching the rail.I discovered that fuel was not exiting,or entering, the fuel filter.
So I suspected a blocked pipe from the pump.Stripped the rear seat area, again,to find that I could blow through the pipe,so my fault was fuel pump related, but it runs, abet only with the relay bridged.
I removed the pump and bench-tested,to discover that it will run with power applied to either post,in other words,it can be wired to suck as well as blow.
...and I had it wired the wrong way round.
Every day is a school day when playing with E30!
Very big 'thank you' to Danthe, who has been helping me sort this via PM,and with the loan of an ECU.
This is what the zone is all about.
