Pre Facelift manual horseshoe issue

My horseshoe does not seem to click into place, I have to push the mechanism forward in order to click it in place.

Is this mechanism linked to the cables?

Any help, advice or suggestions are much appreciated.

the cable runs through them,have they not just come loose?mine did reg until i put some thread loc on
