Right this is knock on effect from trying to change my shocks - I think.

I've had the drivers side front strut off this weekend, put all back together and driven round the block.

The car brakes fine, but as I come to a stop and lift off the pedal, the pedal does a little judder and moves away from my foot then back again???

Have I done something nasty to the ABS sensor? I did at one point lose control of the calliper and it hung from the brake line for a second, but there was no visible damage.

Any Ideas?

I presume you took the caliper off when you removed the strut. And did you bleed the caliper when you put it back on ?? It may be just a case of bleeding the caliper and all will be fine.
I have recently swapped my suspension over and had the same prob as you getting the old shock out. I put the strut in a workbench, locking the hub under the table and used a big wrench and hammer to remove them. Use plenty of WD40 and just keep at it .... it will budge eventually.
But make sure you tighten them properly with the new shock. I have this knocking noise which I now believe (after changing wishbones) to be the shock collar not being tight enough. Bentley suggests 130nm which is VERY tight.

If the flexi pipes to the calipers are old they sometimes breakdown inside, causing a partial vacuum when you lift off, this makes the pipe collapse in on its self and traps the brakes on.

Could be soooo many things, get a mate to help you, jack up the front wheel and spin it by hand, apply the brake then see if your mate can spin the wheel immediately after you take your foot of the brake, if the calipers are binding for any reason then you will be able to feel it when you try to spin the wheel.

Best of luck

I'm gonna have ago next weekend with the strut in a workmate and see if I can get it off that way - cheers for the advice.

I have driven my car round the block a few times and the brakes got much better, and are now back to normal. I'm guessing the pads were just bedding back in.

I have drilled and grooved discs (which I have never had on a car before) I reckon they must be a bit more brutal when they bed the pad back in??

Cheers guy's
