I'm sticking a new rad on a 325i and don't have an old one to compare size with. We used to use aircon rads in PBMW and they were a direct swap, just additional area that dropped further towards the ground between the chassis legs. I've ordered up an aircon rad (nissens not OE) and the lower hose is right, the upper hoses miss by about 4", looks like the rad is too wide. Did E30's come with longer top hoses as an option for different rads, or have I just been sent the wrong rad?

EDIT - Nissens part number is 60619A which I've googled and it's coming up as an E30 M20 rad. Photo below, anybody any ideas? Anybody running an M20 air con rad that could measure width, or anybody got a nissens rad that could post the part number off the sticker?

Cheers

If you look at the parts diagram:

http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do ... g=17&fg=05

You can see a 440mm and a 550mm rad listed; the wider one is for "hot climates" and is known as the tropical radiator.

Thanks for the quick reply. What I'm after I guess then is which version of the top hose I'm after, logic would dictate the "hot climate" one (@ £48) but would be good to know for definite before ordering one as pretty sure it'll be special order and non return. The expansion tank pipe also looks like a different set up, but should be able to modify the original one Ok.

Cheers

By sticking the part numbers into a google image search, you'll get confirmation about how each part looks. That hot climate top hose is a very long one:

so I expect it'll fit!
