E30 nearly cuts out when starting from cold

when cold and first time i start it it fires up no problem, but after about 8 seconds revs drop and it just about cuts out then fires back up again and runs fine?

also there is a strong fuel smell maybe running rich?

fuel pup seems to be noisey can her it running/buzzing

any help cheers

look at the fuel hoses in the engine bay trace them complete when starting cold if its leaking it will most likely be one of the hoses there perised and leaking out fuel,
