Just out of interest why do you want to? Does the lambda do much on a m50?

An O2 sensor can be replaced by a square wave generator, operating at about 2Hz or so. This is quite common with mixer type LPG systems, with electronic control.

I answered the initial question as asked, but Dan's right, it's much easier to fit a sensor if there's no other reason for the OP than your car doesn't have one.
18mm nut sawn in half, a hole drilled in a downpipe, a bit of MIG action, and a second hand sensor from a scrapyard, and the jobs good. The red touring in my sig. ran for about four years with a lambda sensor with FoMoCo stamped on it.
