Hi all, Iv just gone out to my car, gone to unlock the boot and.......nothing, i cant unlock it!!

Now, for most people, this would not be a major problem, but there is a kill switch on my battery that happens to be OFF as the car does not get used all the time, so i cant start the car

Does anyone have any idea how i could get around this, im sure if i could get power to the car, the central locking would open the boot.

PLEASE HELP ME!!!!!!

To get into the boot when it won't open, get an extension socket bar, place it on the boot lock, and give it a quick thump with a hammer or similar, it will open the boot, but dislodge a circlip which you'll have to find and put back together.

So the power is back on, and the central locking is still not unlocking the boot?
Are you using the correct keys? Some well looked after E30's still have the valet keys, that won't open the boot and glovebox..

Did'nt think that worked on the bm's, only on the mk4 escort's?

If it doe's work, hit it harder!!

Other than that you will have to chisel the outside casing off around where the key goes in :(

The German's really did sort the locking out on these car's :?

Yea, the power is on and the central locking is not opening the boot. I still have the valet key, but i am using the right one.

Im guessing something has jammed up in the lock, when theres more light tomorrow il see if i can see anything

It's worked for me a couple of times, maybe M3 lock is different...I don't think so though...

So what happens when you turn the key in the boot lock? Is the deadlock on at all?

The key will turn and when its turned in the boot lock all the other doors will lock/unlock, its not slack or loose, which makes me think that there's nothing broken.

Whats the dead lock and how does it work? (sorry, i know this is going to be a stupid question!)

Thanks for the help btw

Deadlock is when you turn the key in the drivers lock anti-clockwise, it prevents all doors being opened wether by key or by pulling the locking pins.

Seeing as the car is locking/un-locking with the key at the boot then it's not a deadlock problem, and not a lock problem at the boot.

Seems just a simple jam, has it been left shut for a while?

Dead Lock: Lock's all door's and you cannot open them, try locking your driver's door with the window down but turn the key so it is parralel(sp) and pull the door pin up....................you can't hence dead lock.

Not exactly sure what is going on with the lock on the boot but try pushing down on the boot when you push the button in.

I had a problem with this on mine, I had to put the key in the unlock position in the boot lock, I then pressed the button to lock the car doors with the key in the boot lock. Next unlocked the doors again and magically the boot opened!

Weird but may help
