i need a radiator and my local scrappy has a J plate 318i radiator which he reckons will fit my H plate 325i manual and no AC

would this fit as i have been told only 320i and 325i ones fit.

the guy knows his stuff and says they are the look like they are the same, they have no side tank on the radiator likes some of them..

do they fit???

Hi mate, I've never seen an M40 without the expansion tank on the side of the rad, I've quickly scanned the ETK and there are no matching part numbers anywhere for 318i and 325i wether they be auto/manual/A/C etc

Best bet is to go and take a look yourself and compare.

Also, wont the rad for a 4 pot be smaller that for a 6 pot ?

Yes they are hence the expansion tank on the side of the 4 pot rad.

think that would be a bad idea, you would start having over heating issues, but i have heard of guys putting the 6pot rads in 4pot engines that have turbos, because they needed more cooling.

Have a look at it, like has been suggested... if it looks the same, it could well be that the 318i owner has fitted the bigger rad as an upgrade!
