i have a bmw e30 325i and fitted a fse power boost valve, induction kit and mild ecu chip, do you know what bar i need to set the regulator at with a gauge at idle. At the moment i have it 2.5 bar at idle

Get rid of it and put the o/e one back. They don't hold high enough pressure at high revs.

not what i wanted to hear Zaust, i will give the adjustable a go if i can get the right settings first

Set it to 3 bar on idle. You will notice more torque if you put the standard air box back too.
M30 Tech 1 Touring on gas.

i tried 3 bar but seems to run rich, but will try it for a while. thanks

Aftermarket parts are made to sell on for a profit... BMW do not endorce these parts.

They majority aren't made with performance in mind, more, sales amount. Just because a K&N Filter might work well on one car, doesnt mean they work well as an upgrade on all cars. The original design was designed for a reason :cool:

There are also cases of eBay jobbies failing and squirting fuel all over your engine - this is not a good thing.

Adjustable pressure regulators should NEVER be anywhere near a standard engine, unless there is a very good reason to adjust the fuel pressure (trying to squeeze a bit more from under size injectors) then the stock item is the best bet.
