Had a search, get them same kinda answers...
Changing the diff oil, obviously there are the 2 torx/allen key plugs on the rear, do you refil on the top one of these? Or is it the long nipple thing on top? I have some spare diffs in the unit, but havent looked at them yet, thought I would just get an snwer on here.
Also, do I just fitt it back up until its full to the brim or does it have a max?
With regards to the prop... The 3 17mm bolts on the front, how do I get these damn things off? I was trying earlier but the gearbox mount is well in the way to get a spanner or socket on the engine side of it.

Remove the top one first, which is the filler hole. Then remove the bottom one, which is the drain hole. If you can't get the filler cover off, don't remove the drain cover. Simple stuff.
The diff capacity is in the Haynes manual IIRC. You don't need much, I'm sure it's under a litre.

Thanks fella
That was my understanding but wanted to be sure... I could have also looked in my Haynes manual
Which im going to find out now to see if it tells me about the prop.
The 2 plugs come off though easily as turned them slightly earlier to check.

The correct amount of oil is when it's level with the bottom of the filler hole with the diff. level. I.e. Fill it until oil just begins to flow out again.
0.9 litre for a small case diff., and 1.7 litre for a medium one.
Simple way to improve access to the front prop. bolts is to remove the crossmember. There's very little weight on it in an E30, and the gearbox is easily supported a bit further towards the front with some blocks, a jack or a stand.
