The 320i lump should be coming out of my car this weekend, along with its Getrag 240 gearbox. I've got a 325i and box to go in from an E34. The car's now been fitted with a 3.64 diff, and that won't change.
My question is which gearbox to use? I know 4th and 5th are the same ratio so final cruising speed will be the same, but is it worth the hassle of swapping the boxes and fitting the Getrag 240 to the M20B25, to get the sportier ratios? I'll be doing a fair amount of city driving, and I don't know how much the 3.64 diff in a heavy Touring will have blunted the acceleration.
Best 325i Touring Gearbox/Diff Combo?
