Is this do-able? I'm going to swap an M50 into my E30 316i and don't want to wire it into the clocks, diagnostics etc. as it's just a track car and I'm fussy about my wiring. Have already stripped out all wiring from the car and made my own body loom (lights, brakes, flasher etc.) So can I just have the ECU turned on with a switch, then have the starter on a switch also? Is it simply just a case of finding out which wires need 12v and permanent 12v?
Thanks in advance
James
Running the M50 ECU on it's own. Just a on/off relay

All the engine loom needs is the earth and permanent live wires (the ones with ring terminals) connected to the battery, ignition switched 12 volts to the green wire in the engine loom plug, the plain blue wire connected to a battery warning light (other side of light to the ignition switched live), and a start signal (12 volts) connected to the black/yellow in the plug.
The green/purple wire in the plug can be used as an automatically switched power feed to the fuel pump if you so desire, or that can be powered completely independently.
