I have a factory BMW towbar I am fitting to my touring tomorrow. Which side of the car does the harness enter into the car? There are four connectors, a round and rectangle one on each side. Where do these plug in at? Which side is which?
One side has these color wires:
blue w/ red
grey w/ purple
green w/ red
blue w/ white
grey w/ yellow
brown
The other side has these:
grey w/ purple
grey w/ white
blue w/ black
blue w/ white
green w/ red
brown
Thanks in advance

Do I remove the plug from the taillight, replace it with this one, connect the other two together and then put the cover back on?

The genuine BMW wiring is all attached using the rear light sockets as you mention.

OK thanks. I figured so by looking at it, but wasn't sure as I hadn't offered it up yet. Which side do I cut the hole to bring the loom in? One side is much longer than the other, don't want to end up cutting 2 holes.

Not to sure.
Mines had the bmw wiring butchered and I rewired it an run the cable through one of the vent holes behind the bumper into the boot.

He did a wiring list like that for me some where hidden in the zone's archive of threads.
Your's should be plug and play if you have the BMW connectors as in your pics.

Yes, plug and play. I got it all mounted up and installed just now, lights work as they should. The BMW loom is very convenient
