armrest mod

I'm going to retro fit a e46 armrest into my turd.

Do you think it will be ok to drill 2 holes into the transmission hump so I can get a screw and washer in to pin the e46 armrest down?

Will do, you don't think I'll have any problems with the holes rusting or what not?

What is clearance between the tranny/drive chain from the top of the transmission hump? I only want to put a couple of half inch self tappers in...
