Annoying problem, fuel gauge and temp gauge pretty much do what they want!
as soon as you turn the ignition on, the temp gauge slams right over to its stopper in hot! after a period of driving it will go down to just over half, but not for very long before it thinks its a rev counter! fuel gauge does the same!!

Now the twist, i can operate the sunroof, windows and mirrors without the keys in, are e30's permanant live?

cheers for any help!

Unplug the 20 pin engine loom plug and socket, next to the fusebox, and see if this makes the temp. gauge read zero.
Pull up the rear seat cushion, and pull apart a eight (?) pin plug and socket tied under the steel vent pipe tube on the RH side, and see if the fuel gauge reads zero.

They are live with either of the front doors open, but not with them closed, and the ignition off. Are yours still working then?
