I know i shouldn't do it but on occasions i give the motor some beans in the wet and get the wheels spinning up quite hard sometimes up through second gear but a couple of times now the back end seems to jump (bounce?)and i get a quite a loud bumping noise coming from the rear suspension.
Hard to describe really as it doesn't always do it but what could it be, knackered shocks, bushes?
it's all standard by the way
Any ideas chaps?
Weird noise

Bushes is probably the most likely culprit. Really you need to get the car up off the ground and inpect the condition of them.

What you're experiencing sounds like wheel tramp, and is caused by loose suspension components.
Biggest culprit is the subframe bushes, which if original will be utterly shagged by now. It's a good idea to do all the rear bushes in one hit, and a full list with How To guides is in the Wiki:
