non bmw clutch

i know it's no e30 but got a 1999 manual 1.9 diesel polo for the missus to practice in before her test, my e30 convertible is an auto, cheap as chips and only 77k on the clock the polo that is, 6 weeks of wearing the clutch down and it's started slippin on a bank holiday week end. anyone ever changed a clutch on one of these and how hard is it. i'm not afraid of a bit of graft, done the axle carrier bushes on my e30 on my back on the drive and my cam belt.
