I'm sure this has been covered a million times, since i've had my e30 the engine oil and brake light is on in the check panel.

Do i need to replace the oil sensor which is next to the thermostat/filter housing? If so what is the parts official name/number.

When I touch the brake pedal the check light goes off, what is up here?

Cheers.!

Its supposed to go off mate, if it stays on there is either a bulb out or the brake light switch behind the pedal is broken.

It goes out to say there's no problem

Engine oil light on check panel is level, so either oil low or sensor buggered..... Oil light on dash is pressure
A 2 door e30 with 8 cylinders, what could be better winkeye :D

What about correct wattage for the brake bulbs? Might this throw the sensor?

The oil level is fine, what part number is the sensor?

If the Oil level sensor isn't working, usually a good clean will sort it.

I'd rather just buy a new one and replace when I do an oil change. If I take it out and clean it, fill the engine with oil only to find it hasn't worked I'd have to wait another 6 months to do it again.! Doh!

You know the part number TPS?

No.7, thats the Level sensor for the check control. I think the suggested cleaning method is to, put it in a old bean can with petrol inside, & soak it.

You don't need to drain the oil to remove the oil level sensor. It's located under the alternator, and is just above the oil level.
