Hello Door lock guru's. I have done some extensive research on my door locking problem and discovered that I need to replace the door lock barrel. I have even found a guide on how to do it. (What the hell is your question then you ask??) What I want to know before pulling it all out is should I be able to turn the new barrel (not in the car yet) 90 degrees for the deadlock, or will I only be able to do that once installed. The barrel I have looks the same as the one in the guide, yet I can only get 45 degree turns out of it. Your help would be appreciated as always. I don't want to put the new one in to find it doesn't work the deadlock.

Cheers

Hi mate, I've been having trouble with my central locking and had the locks and barrel out at the weekend to wd40 and grease and my barrel did turn 45 degrees out of the door. Hope this helps.

iirc it will turn to 90, you just need to try harder.
once past the 45 degree point the whole L shaped metal bit pivots round the spring loaded bit.
