I am planning to finally tidy up the only bit of rust on my car which is under the battery tray against the rear valance (325, battery in boot).

I also want to secure my battery properly so had a look at RealOEM but some things are not clear:

I have only parts 6 and 4 from this diagram (plus a bettery obviously).

Part 4 sits below part 6 and plugs a hole in the floor which means that despite serving no purpose with a modern battery I will keep it where it is.

But what is the point of the strap (no 13) given that the tray (no 6) is not fixed into the wheel well (or should it be fixed in somehow)?

Also where does the threaded of part no 7 go? I can't see anywhere in my tray or in the floor of the well where this would thread in?

Thanks in advance.

Doh, sorry, I should learn to read.

Missed the "in boot" bit.

IIRC 7 screws into a captive nut in the tray.

Sure the tray I took out of my car was bolted in.

Don't remember ever seeing a car with the 13 strap in place 8O
