Hi just nef a quick guide, does anyone know the factory settings for the tappets for 325i? Also would it be the same for a cam which has covered 150k+ miles?

Cheers.

0.30 is when the engine is warm, and 0.25 when the engine is cold.

set the same regardless of mileage...

Isn't the bigger gap with a cold engine, as it will tighten when everything expands with heat? Or is my logic back to front?

Hot clearance is the greater one.
Your logic is back to front. Alloy and steel are both involved and alloy expands more than steel. Think about it, and it will become clear!

Do them stone cold, because it doesn't take long for the cam and bits to cool off with the cam cover removed. When they're cold, they're cold. Some 325i's like the exhausts set to 12 thou to improve the idle. It's also worth running a tiny drill (1mm) down the oil spray bar holes to increase the oil flow - this works well on cams that are a bit worn as yours possibly will be.
