My roof doesn't currently work due to the mechanism being broken and I've been checking the electrical side to see if thats ok before I waste anytime repairing the mechanism.
I don't have a wiring diagram (if anyone can help with this it would be appreciated) but I do have a list of the pin connections on the control box. So far I've ascertained that I have 12 volts at pins 3, 11 and 19 as expected, also good earths at 12 and 20. Pin 18 (speedometer A signal) shows around 4 volts.
I would have expected to get voltage at pins 5 and 6 (top tensioning microswitch up/down) and at pins 7 and 8 (top switch open/close) when the switch is activated but theres nothing anywhere.
Can anyone point me in the right direction with this? A manual roof is looming

thanks that's really useful but a little confusing too. On page 57 here http://shark.armchair.mb.ca/~dave/BMW/e30/e30co_92.pdf I'm aware of the location of everything accept the components labelled convertible switch I and convertible switch II. Where are they?willnz wrote:There is a manual in the Links above you can download, iirc it has a full section on the electric roof.

I'd guess that they are within the main roof motor assembly, that would make sense.willnz wrote:Those look like they are inside the 2 motor enclosures. Will have a closer look when I get back from work.
