As fate would have it, my drivers seat belt stalk ceased to function the day before my MOT runs out...

It'll accept a buckle with a bit (lot) of encouragement, but won't do for an MOT. The button doesn't spring back, and I suspect some internal workings are also stuck.

So... With it being a sunday and all the car breakers being closed; Is there any way of getting into it to attempt a repair before I start phoning around tomorrow?

I have a funny feeling that it doesn't want to be opened up.. Which would make sense on such a safety critical item.

Car is a 1990 318is.

Thanks:)

PS: I tried WD40, which is what seemed to tip it over the edge of 'sticky' into the abyss of 'screwed'.
