mine works, I found that there is a problem with the connections, if you go to an electronic goods store you can pick up some contact grease I dont know what it's called you put some on and the contacts will be better and it should work.

Interior light door switches are very easy to sort out.
Open the doors and undo the single cross head screw that holds the switch in place. Pull the switch out and pull off the wire(s). (Two, if you have electric windows.) It doesn't matter which way around they go back on.
Don't let the wires slip back through the hole, or you will have to remove the speakers to retrieve them.
Generally clean up the metal contact areas of the switches, and you may find a small piece of plastic that has worn in suchn away as to keep the contacts apart. Trim this away with a craft knife.
Lubricate the switches with a little silicon grease, (electrical lubricant, available cheapest from a plumber's merchant's (used as O ring lubricant in soil pipes)), and reassemble.
Lights will give no further trouble for many years.
Smear any plug and socket you take apart on an E30 with silicon grease as well, before you reassemble it.
