Mine is the 88' 318i, and when i bought it, it only had the rear fogs and the one button for the fogs.
So i bought some front fog lamps, installed them and plugged them in (because the loom is already there). I then bought a new switch that has the two separate buttons on it for front/rear fogs. But after installing neither of the fog lights work. Is there something im missing?
The connector that the switch connects two has 4 wires coming out of it which i assumed was two for the front and two for the rear.
Any experience of this?
Lee

Have you installed the right fuses and relay into the Fuse Box?

I recently fitted fog lights on my Touring, I had to fit the fuses, dash switch etc but the relay was already in place. Don't know why - my car has never previously had fogs - so perhaps some of them came out of the factory with the extra relay already fitted.

The lamps are brand new, so they should be fine.
My fuse box has K2, K3, K4 AND K8 installed. (K8 is black). As far as i'm aware that should be all I need.
I cleaned all connections before I put the lights in, but I best do it again.
I haven't installed anything into the cluster, will that need to be there?
Ill have to get the mulitmeter out tonight then i guess.
Cheers guys

when you switch the rear fogs on you get an amber tell tale light in the instrument cluster
you need to have a bulb in the adjacent green tell tale to indicate front fogs on too

And if you fit it (A legal requirement, I think), and tell me if it works, it will narrow down considerably where the main fault is.bigwinn wrote:when you switch the rear fogs on you get an amber tell tale light in the instrument cluster
