Hi, just wanted to know if there was much involved in replacing the service board batteries inside the instrument cluster. I have my cluster removed and apart and can see that the batteries are held in place by metal tabs soldered in place to the board. Is this a job for a home handyman or should I really leave it for an expert?
Thanks.

Not far I know where Kurralta Park is. About 15 mins away from me. A battery shop guy at Melrose park quoted me $15 - $20 to replace the batteries for me. Not too bad I thought...

Although it might appear possible to swap batteries from a doner set of clocks - at least if these are new batteries being fitted, you should at least feel confident that your service indicator board has been maintained.
It's the price of 'Peace of mind'.
Is everyone still mad on the big V8's - or have the Japanese turbo cars taken over?

Yeah I think I'll get them replaced by his electronics technician. Around Adelaide we still get the V8 Commodore (HSV) and Ford (FPV) drivers getting around, although you do see more and more Japanese imports on the roads every day aswell. They are becomming a little common. I'm happy driving my E30..!

Good one you're lucky. Unfortunately BMW in Australia only sell the boards by themselves. The batteries don't come with them. Bugga...
