I think my coolant temp sensor is bad, I read somewhere that it is located in the thermostat housing.

Also I phoned up to get a new one and apparently there is two the guy was saying, one in the head and one in the block.

Is this true?

Another one....

Two sensors fitted,do you have an M20 engined car?
If so,they are both on the thermostat housing, the brown one signals the dashboard gauge and the blue one signals the engine ECU.

Several current threads are detailing the testing method!

Ahh sorry, I didn't realise.
No I have the M40 version, the one I'm looking to replace would be the blue one then.

Thanks for getting back to me!
I'll look for the other thread.

Testing is identical, but both sensors are located on the side of the cylinder head on M40,tucked away under the inlet manifold.

Oh really?

I have a cold start issue where if it's cold it will run like crap, if the revs are low and you try pull off it will cut out, you have to blip the throttle and then try and pull away.

When it warms up, I assume the 02 sensor kicks in and it runs fine.

I've checked for vaccum leaks and replaced many hoses and manifold gaskets and still nothing.

Thanks for your help
