rev counter - anyone in fife know there m20's fancy helpin

recently bought a 316 with 2.5 conversion, it was obvious instantly that it was bodged as has various problems.

one problem is that the rev counter is a mile out it goes right round back to zero when reved????

any ideas on fault??? wrong instrument cluster?

also any fifers or localish members wanna lend a hand diagnosing problems and sortin a poor conversion job

I'm a long way from Fife and have no intention of ever going within around 400 miles of the place, but your tacho problem is down to the instrument cluster still having a four cylinder coding chip plugged into the front of it. You need a six cylinder one.
The instrument cluster doesn't have to come out to do this, but the trim around it does.

sweet thought it be somethin stupid, it has a 4 cylinder rad, no expansion tank, wrong icv, throttle cable setup is wrong, etc etc

Is it a prefacelift or facelift car? I have prefacelift 6 pot rad sitting here if it's any use.
