i have a 1986 325e which drove fine untill a day ago. the clutch when pressed to the floor sometimes will not return to the top of its swing. also the car is hard to get out of gear when this happens. i can use my foot to return the clutch back to the top of its swing, then i can depress it again and get the car out of gear. HELP!!! Please!!!

sounds like your master or slave cylinder is knackered mate, or probably both. the seals wear and this allows fluid to leak to the wrong side of the plunger and therefore you get no hydraulic movement, and no clutch. kits are available to repair it, and not too hard on an E30, but easier to buy a new one/set as they usually wear internally and replacing the seals wont last forever, especially as yours is an 86.
also as an afterthough check the return spring has not come off/broken its at the top of your clutch pedal but this is will only return the pedel to top of swing, nothing to do with clutch action.
oh yeah, check the level of fluid in your brake resevoir first as the system shares fluid with brakes, if thats low then clutch will also not work correctly!
