URGENT, HELP NEEDED!

I really need some help with this one guy

I suppose it's a bit of a plea.

My 89 e30 320i has just broken down. The fuel pump has packed in.

Is there anyone in the Preston/ chorley area that has one I can buy off them that they can get to me either later tonight or tomorrow? Of course I would pay them extra if they dropped it off.

I wouldn't usually ask things like this, but I'm desperate. My parts place can only get one in for Monday, I'm due to go to Norfolk on holiday on Saturday and I'm supposed to be driving. I'm looking after my uncles House in chorley so really I'm stuck here. Can anyone help?

Temporarily change the pump fuse, #11, to 15A to prevent it blowing, remove the rear seat cushion and the oval plate underneath it, and smack the top of the fuel pump with a hammer handle or similar. This usually gets it running for a few hours.
Not ideal, but I once spent two weeks on holiday in France with a pump in this state, gradually getting worse. It was a Touring, with three kids in the back, and eventually, with the efficiency of a F1 tyre change crew, we could get the back seat up, pump thumped, everyone back in again, and be on our way in less than 30 seconds.

Sounds like a fun trip! I have tried all the smacking and tapping to see if it works, but got absolutely nothing. I've changed it once before, got it from a Scrapper though, so I didn't expect it to last forever, just a little bit longer than it has.

It's just a ball ache I really don't need.

If you have the correct 7.5A fuse fitted in the #11 position, there's a good chance it will have 'soft blown' which may not be obvious when you look at it. No amount of pump thumping will make it go if this fuse is dud.

Test lamp at the wires lights up when cranking, power probe direct to the pump says it isn't working. Plus, hold it in your hand whilst cranking and you Can feel the motor stall through the casing.

Exactly what my French one was doing.
