The BMW part # is 65.81-1374 917.9, the VDO part # is 510.201/001/002, it has a type 58 coding plug with the #'s 1375 814 and 5.86 and it has the standard 26 pin green receptacle in the back.
i have a broken lcd screen - if worst comes to the worst i'll swap out the lcd screen from this american obc i just picked up for 10 dollars. i'm hoping its plug and play though? with a bit of luck
also now and then when i am driving the gong goes of on my obc - i don't know why as i've never used ity due to broken screen -
is there a user guide on the net - i'd like to know what they do even though its simple enough!!

There's is a difference between the US OBC and the UK, but only in the writing on the buttons, instead of SPEED it's AVG MPH, instead of LIMIT it's M MPH, and instead of CONSUM it's AVG MPG.
And then obviously there's different language ones for different countries.

you do need to check the type plug in the back - type 5-8 is not a 'known' one for an E30. I bought a cheap OBC with a type 5-5 in the back which was from a 528 E34?
But I swopped my type 4-6 into the 5-series OBC, and it seems to work just fine (and gives sensible MPG readings)
What type code is on your current OBC?
