Been hearing water sloshing around in my car after its been sat in the rain at first i thought it was in the rear pockets in the boot behind the rear wheels but they were both dry. It rained heavy today and i could hear it again when i set off, my car is stripped out so i put my hand in the rear quater pockets at either side of the rear bench seat infront of the rear wheels and they were both 2 inches deep with water.....

Shud there be drain holes in them? maybe ive welded them up when prepping for paint? How does that much water get in them theres no holes in the inner arches and its leaked in whilst the car was parked up! Is it anything to do with the sunroof drain?

Cheers Max

That is the first thing I would check. Rear ones on my car pass out through a vent hidden behind the bumper where it runs up to the wheel arch.

Here's a pic. The black hose is the roof drain and the clear one is from the electric aerial.

Did you melt the pipe doing some repair welding?

On the other hand, you know there's no rot there since it's holding water :D

checked up on it this morning. Rear drain holes look fine i poured water down them and it drained out behind the rear bumper. But when i poured water down the front ones none came out and the pockets filled up again! where are the front 2 sunroof drain holes supposed to drain out the water? Is it somewhere at the front of the sill? Maybe ive welded them up by mistake and the water is running inside the sill to the rear quater pockets.

Any sugestions? cheers.

There is a drain that runs down the windscreen pillar and exits through the bottom of the wing behind the wheel.

Is it seperate to the drain for the 2 vents in the scuttle pannel under the windscreen?

Think ive sorted it. Theres a little bleb in the back of the sill behind the wing (like you said DHFiS) and it should drain out of there but ive filled it with seam sealer when repairing the sills before i had it painted! oops :o:

Thanks for your help. Max
