Hi guys,
I was tinkering today an my 320 has started idelling very high (about 2-2.5k rpm) and i thought it might be the mass air flow meter so i replaced that after having no joy just altering the idelling screw. I tinkered a bit more, slowly adjusting the idelling screw until i got a smooth 1k rpm and almost got it spot on when the engine just stalled. The engine now wont start at all for love nor money. I have taken the fuel filter out and there is nothing wrong with it at all, checked the spark and thats fine and the fuel pump is working fine!!
Does anyone have any ideas - im getting so fed up little things like this and now i dont know what to do.
any ideas would be much appreciated.
Jon

Please could you use the technical help section in future for this type of question as you are more likely to get replies to your post in the correct section.
I will move the thread for you on this occasion.
Thanks

Put the idle screw back to it's original position as the new mas may not be set up the same as the other one

I though that might be an idea but the car actually ran with the new MAFS for about 10 mins then it just tailed of and stopped for no real reason. I am slightly confused and somewhat downhearted as it was so close to completion, but this problem leaves me with no fully working car as my m535 is suffering leaky waterpump VERY badly, but it will limp to donny i feel!!

Could well be that while fiddling with the idle screw you've lowered it so much that the ICV can't compensate and it's given up.
Might be an idea to back off the idle screw a couple of turns and disconnect the battery for a few mins to reset the ecu.
I had problems with 2 dud ICV's a while back and it would run for a while then cut out and not even attempt to restart so i pulled the earth lead off the battery for 5 mins and it would start again.
Hope you get this sorted
Cheers,

never thought about that mate. Will give it a bash tomorrow if i get a second, maybe disconnect the battery on the way out (maybe even stash it on charge as its been raped with all the attempts at starting then bash it back in later on. If it works... you my friend are a legend!

I was tinkering today
How many times have i heard or said that
Did you maybe do something to the acc cable to make it rev high, and then stuffing around with the idle screw for no reason? Just a tought.

ITS ALIVE!!!!!
after doing loads including a compression test that gave some scarey results and finally disconnecting the injector ECU leads, and cranking it. I nearly lost hope after doing that and resetting the ECu to find it still wouldn't start, then I remembered when I removed the injector ECU plugs I also took the MAFS plug off as well, back on and she burst back into live. still got a high idle issue but it runs at least now - woooooot. Still dont know exactly what the problems was but I am not too bothered as it at least works now
thanks guys - jonmsm
