Hi all, wondering if anyone (E30Adam) can shed any light on a slight problem I encountered after retro fitting Full OBC into my lowly 1984 Baur 323i.

Followed instructions in Articles Section re fitting, no problem until came to connecting final couple of wires behind glove box. Article states You should be left with 2 lose wires, single green one and a red with white tracer.

Two wires I am left with are actualy three, single red with white tracer and a double connector plug with a green and a green with red tracer, as article goes on, there is only one place these will fit and there is.

Connected into control box, started car, no problem so far, turned off ignition thinking wonderful, I wonder what those wires actually do, Ahhhhhhhhhh. Car kept on running :wtf: even took keys out of ignition
Check warning light came on again on dashboard and panal.
 Quickly got back over to passenger side, pulled red wire, still running, pulled double ended plug Green/Green Red and hey, it stopped.

Sorry long story, WTF is happening

mien did the same mate

u no the control box u put above the ECU? its only used for an immobiliser

if u unplug the bottom one (or both in my case) the car should run normally

mine did that an it had nothing to do with glove box connections

Does not seem to be working even when disconnected from control box.
Will investigate further, wont be this weekend though, major jobs first on car tomorrow, New Cam belt water pump etc etc.

Thanks for help

Well guys I just did mine and it all appears to be working fine!!
I left the white plug with the green and green/red wire loose, and the connection for it (which is on the car loom) already had a plug in it which went to the alarm/immob.
The only gripes I have with mine are the OBC stalk is further away from the wheel than the std one. Is this normal or has it been bent at some point? I didn't bother with the horn as it only works with the immobiliser function. Everything else is plugged in and working fine (including gong and temp)

The whole thing took me a long time as there was no space under my glove box for any more wires, so I had to resite the alarm. I also fitted my bluetooth car kit at the same time and fixed my temp guage. All in all I had both consoles, glove box and internal covers and the heater panel and instrument cluster out. It's much easier to fit the unit by removing the heater panel: pull off the 3 sliding control knobs, then prise off the cover underneath. Pull off the temp control knob, then undo the 4 screws under the panel to release the cable set behind. Then undo the 2 big screws which go up vertically above the ashtray, and the 2 small screw accessible through the switch cut outs at the top. Pull it all out, screw the OBC in, then offer it all up and plug the unit in before screwing the cable set back up (it's abit fiddly)
Apart fro that it's fine. Be sure to route all the loom in with the original car loom to make it all look nice and neat, and to prevent any ratleles.
All the best
Dan
