hi guys, if by some crazy chance or act of god, you somehow get your keys locked in the car, how would you get them out?

I stood in the cold for about 2 hours with a coat hanger fishing around in the drivers door, after i locked my keys inside the car (with the engine running
)
I even thought about breaking the window!

You can use a piece of wire coathanger with a hook bent in one end. This will feed between the door rubber and the car body. You will need to put a bend in the middle once you've sussed out what length you need. A bit of twisting and twiddling later you will be able to hook the pin and release the lock.
Only one problem - doesn't work if the deadlocks are on!!!!!!!!

I'll PM you if you're actually stuck Hyperion? - I'm the expert after a similar situation (broken lock though!).
I had a thread up at the time, but asked for it to be deleted as at the end of the day, we're discussing in public how to break into E30s! Not really the best idea...

Hmmm i think Ziggys right, i was in two minds about asking the question. just had a close one this weekend, i put the car in the driveway but got out and ran into the house to get something from my room. my brother came out saw my car with the keys in it and thinking i was a bit of an idiot closed the car and locked it for me. so then i go out to the car and i am like "holy sh!t", now what.
...then i am like wait a minute...
.brothers gotta love them.

Does the central locking wiring run under the bonnet, like if you have an alarm.
Drop an earth wire on the central locking tag of the alarm and hey presto.

metal coat hanger has always worked for me. Before I got my car and a mate owned it, he started it outside our house one morning when it was snowing in order to warm the car up, the Toad alarm has the anti-hijack thingy which locks the doors after 45 seconds, so when he shut the door and came in to have a brew whilst it was warming up..... well you know what happened.

My car stitched me right up!!!! BIG TIME
Approx 2 months ago I was on my way to Chippeduk but was running early so decided to jet wash the beast. Having a Toad alarm/immob it will automatically lock itself if the doors or boot hasnt been openned since being unlocked.
Anyway I was washing away with a big queue gradually building behind me watching me at work...big smile on my face, as you do!
Once finished went to open the door to drive out of jet wash and its locked, no keys in pockets.....OH FCUK they are on the passenger seat. It would appear that the passenger door sensor is knackered so when i opened the passenger door to put the keys in (save them getting wet) it didnt register so locked itself automatically. There was no play in the windows...im totally fcuked!!
Everything was in the car, my phone, wallet everything. Im screwed.
Cut a long story short....i luckily had Ԛ£20 in my back pocket.....got taxi to misses work to get spare house keys to get spare car keys......she's at lunch in town......waited for her to return, got spare house keys......got taxi home.....got spare car keys....taxi back to garage 2hrs later......removed car.
So that experience:
I was over 1 hour late for chippeduk so missed my place and had to wait another 45mins
Cost me Ԛ£15.00 in taxi fares
P1ssed off my local garage for 2hrs of lost trade
P1ssed off the people queuing for the jet wash (one was a E36....ha ha)
My feet were soaked to the bone
I was in a massive sweat from running around like a headless chicken.
The thing that p1ssed me off the most that a quad bike was next in the queue, he continued to jetwash it right next to my clean motor....so when i returned i had fcuking mud all over the one side.....Lesson learnt!!!!

I couldnt lock me keys into the car, it's had the door locks taken off and the unlocking/locking is controlled by the thathcam (cant spell) alarm.
