I don't think it's even a case of some of the elements broken more that there's no current getting to the window at all.

For someone who is not particularly savvy when it comes to electrics, are there any checks I can carry out to determine if the pins are sitting correctly in position and contacting correctly? Even clarification of how the current gets directed to the window (rather than the rear blower) would be appreciated...

Btw, it's a Wiesmann hard top.

Its usually the contacts (part 25)

that causes problems ...the blower stops working when the roof is down so there must be a micro switch in there somewhere to redirect the current ...have you tested it when down
