Ok, I know that once u have it installed, u have to take the car to get chipped so that it can be mapped or something.

What I want to ask is can u still run the car with it not being tuned ? I'm guessin it would run like if u don't have ut AFM plugged in... very hesitant, and the car won't idle that sort of thing ?

You won't be able to drive it all until it's connected up to the new chip. E30 ecu will not read the signals from a MAF. You'll to either tow it there or do the fitting outside the tuning shop!
Good luck

As per Monsport, youll need the unichip installed to get it to run properly.

Bexleys are the only place who offer it at the moment.

The AMF uses a 5V signal and the MAF a 1V signal (or there abouts). Hence the MAF won't communicate with your ECU. You're buggered unless you can get a chip which is already mapped to work with a MAF... maybe Ant can help with this????

'08 Buell XB12Ss - American engineering at it's 'best'... good fun though

Can just a remap sort this out?? I didn't think it could?

afaik you need something like unichip not only for the voltage difference but for the type of signal. I heard one is linear and the other exponential or something.

I'm sure there's a site (I may have even posted a link.. not sure) that shows a (calibra?) which has a little custom box fitted, homemade and quite simple, that changes the signal as needed. I'll see if I can dig it out.

couldn't find that link but found this company doing some maf kits for a few BMWs only m3 in the e30 range but I'd bet the kits are modifiable or you can get them to change the kit as needed.

Ah ha, foudn it. but the page is no longer available. Fortunately google has a cache of everything but the pictures... this should be adaptable to any e30.

Thanks guys, I'm not in the UK... but I now know.

Here is a diagram, that a guy over in Malaysia did for me, I'm going to just get the guys to remap the Dasktec Unichip.

Seems fairly simple to wire up.
