Hi all,
I need to replace the back plate to the rear discs as a handbrake shoe retaining pin and spring departed company and started rattling round inside the disc. As it turns out the hole in the back plate that holds pin had split due to rust.
I've ordered new back plates, but can anyone give me some pointers on how to replace them. Is there a procedure I need to do in replacing them?
Cheers
Pav

Depends on if you want to do a 'proper' job or a bodge job!
The wheel bearing will need removing to do a proper job,but you could cut a section out of you nice shiney new back plate so that it sides behind the bearing and weld the cut back up if you are really fussy....
When I had this problem,I spent hours one Sunday modifying 4 large repair washers to fit in the resess in the backplate, they need to be roughly pie sections, and changing the centre hole to a slot! I then found that the new retaining springs were just a little too long to fit.....
