my wifes normaly reliable car does`nt start,when you turn key there is no energising of the fuel system,i have changed the main (white ) relay,I have tested the pump relay etc, any suggestions ? please?

What happens if you remove the fuel pump relay and link together pins 30 and 87 of its base? Does this make the fuel pump run? You should be able to easily hear it.

I`ve not tried that but I substituted a good relay and no response,I also took off the plate under back seat and checked for a live ,the large three prong connecter has an ignition live at one of the outer of the three prongs,with ignition on and including start,do I still need to try jumping the pins as you say?or does the fact that their is an ignition live present mean the pump is shot?

Jump the relay socket as described. You have tested the fuel gauge!

you can hear petrol sloshing about in the tank , I`ll try what you said tomorrow Brian and see what happens.

well I connected pins 30 &87 as you said,nothing at first,then bingo fuel pump worked,it seems the green/purple wire was hanging on by a thread,soldered a new piece of wire in there,thanks Brian I would never have found it if not for doing what you said
