For a number of years the autobox on my 1985 323i doesn,t completely go in to neutral when selected and the car creeps forward. This doesnt happen when the oil is cold ,only after 5 miles. I believe BMW don't recommend gearbox oil changes now so mine has been in for about 100K miles.
What are the recommended intervals for gearbox oil changes and is this a possible cause for the creeping when warm.
All other gearbox functions and the gear changes are normal.

they need the oil changing at least every 50k its the newer ones that are sealed for life. the gearboxes on these early cars are getting scarce maybe time for a manual conversion.

Check the oil - it should be cherry red. Brown indicates worn clutches.

According to my Haynes manual, it should be changed every 2 years/20,000 miles, and clean the filter at the same time.
