painting a hardtop

how easy is it to transform a vinyl hardtop for an e30 to a painted one i.e strip of the vinyl..etc (what are the stages)
im thinking of buying a vinyl hardtop were the vinyl is lifting of the surface of the roof... is this ok to buy??

Not easy and not cheap when done 'properly'. You would be probably looking at £500+ to get a good finish. Prep work is very important and what is costly.
