hi guys

i tried to put a van aaken chip in my motronic today

the chip is a van aaken modified for 2.7 - and ran well on taffy's racecar when it was a 2.7 - my car is a 2.7 with schick etc etc

- and the part numbers on the back are:

0 261 200 073 with 078 in circle to the right

fitted the chip - the ecu looked quite different to the one on the site guide and the car turned over but showed no inclination to fire - is it possible that the chip only works on later motronics - 1.1 and 1.3?

if so can i get chips for the ml3.3 motronic?

thanks ross

Hi Dude, That chip is for the 173/380 etc type M3.1 onwards ECU

you say you're running on an 073 ECU, chrome bumper style ?

they can be chipped, 90% with ease 10% require 4 extra pins adding to the PCB internally

As you've managed to fit the "wrong" chip I guess yours is a 28 pin socket ?? if so, Chip available from me and others no problemo M8

hi
the part numbers on the back of the ECU are:

0 261 200 073 with 078 in circle to the right - which a google search told me was an ml3.3 ecu - the car itself is later - and runs fine with the stock ml3.3 chip

there are 28 connectors on both chips - this van aaken one does not seem to work on this ECU - it has on the back
"2.7 only/m20
D72BF - low"

does your chip work on the ECU i have and work ok with a schrick 284?

if so when i get get into work tomorrow i'll go to the shop and buy the 2.7 advertised
thanks for your help - will check on here tomorrow leaving computer now

Sorry to thread jack but does the zone chip cater for 2.7 motors built with a late high compression B27 block and a B20 head..

good hijack :) cos aswell as confirming the zone 2.7 chip will work on the version of motronic i have - i'd like to know if it works with early m20 block high comp pistons + 325i head with 284 etc?

i would not expect monster gains it's just that with work gone into engine + forthcoming exhaust seems silly to run a chip which would appear to be
for a stock early 325

let me know!
thanks ross
