Hey guys, this morning I had a cheeky little spinout in my 316 because of a deer with a death wish! :-x I didn't slam on the brakes, but slowly applied strong force.
The car wipped itself into a spin very quickly and it seems the brakes might have sport pads. It is very hard to break smoothly in my car. I recon the previous owner might have put some uprated pads on?What do you think?

Cheers

P.s the car is fine, brake duct loose and a scratch on the wheel (luckily :D )

I'd have thought that on a 316 you only have front discs right?
So the uprated pads would be on the front, which if anything would shift the brake balance forward (more braking at the front) and make the car less likely to spin under braking due to the rears locking, though might make the back end lighter if theres more weight transfer to the front under braking

Did you let off and swerve before braking? That might have pitched you into a spin

FWIW I've never had any problems like this with uprated pads, esp in an E30 - my crx was a lot more tail happy/twitchy under braking.
I'd get your brakes, and maybe suspension checked anyway, just to be on the safe side
Cheers,
Robin

'Ello!

I quite like the Ferodo DS2500 pads myself, though I'd think for normal road use the Pagid fast-road ones would be ok & cheaper
Pagid race pads are well pricey though (more than the Ferodo last time I checked) as they fix the prices suppliers can sell 'em at

Or you could just stick to std bmw for the moment and then change both front and rear to ds2500 if you go to the track

No you can use DS2500 on the road, they're some where between a fast road and a good solid track pad. They're a bit sketchy for the first half-second or so you use them after setting off, or if you've not touched em for a while, after that they're upto temp and really bite
DS3000 are track only though as the operating temp range is too high for road use

if the car span instead of sliding out straight, id say the breaks arnԚ´t ballanced at all.. does it pull to one side when braking?

take em to an mot center and get them tested mate, cost u a tenner if u ask nice and say u need to know if theyԚ´re fcked

Yeah if it does this you may have a sticking calliper or something

to spin on the rear could be a lot of things, one easy one to check is if you've got a small fluid leak in the rear wheel cylinders. this can make drums very grabby. also shows down to the lining will do this but you'll hear that!

failing that, shocks, tyres, front brakes...
