Replaced the engine in my 318i about 2 months ago with one from a breakers. It has done 99k and sounds sweet.
I paid Ԛ£100 for it and got 3 months warranty.
I gave it a service when fitted and have just changed the oil and filter again after 3000 miles trouble free.
Problem i have is at the start of last week the oil light started flickering on/off at idle.Soon as i raise the revs it goes off.
I have noticed no other issues ie rattles, knocking or lack of power after it being like this for over a week,so my thinking is that i may have a faulty sender switch?
Problem is i cant find where it is on the engine
When i do find it is there anyway of testing it or should i just replace it?(dont want to spend more money on it if the engines got to be replaced again)

Any advice would be welcomed :)

Mine sometimes flicks on, but as long as thte level is fine then your fine. Probably might be worth giving it a bit of a clean if you do find it....

Or you could just do and engine flush, mine seams to do it more when it needs an oil change

It may depend on how long the engine was standing, if there was a build up of sludge. After running it for a couple of thousand miles, you may have loosened up more crap than the first flush did.

otherwise, just clean the sensor....
