E30 CATS

did all E30's come with CATS or none of them at all? or was it an optional extra?

From 1990 some came with cats, certainly LHD ones. It was standard where countries required same ie not UK.

Everything pre 93 were non cat. Cats were introduced on the e36's onwards afaik

It was an optional extra from about 88 ( i think) and mine (Oct 92 ) came with one

is there anyway of telling if your car came with it or not as mine has an aftermarket exhaust system on it which im taking off as i want to return it to standard.

After 1988 all bmw were fitted with cats but cars registered after 93 are tested for emissions....(I think

take the vin no into a dealer and ask for the build spec ...but I would get a price before you put a new system and a cat back on ..you might get a shock if you are putting on all new from the dealer.

Its August 92 that the rules changed re emissions

well im after a second hand system as i know new from the dealer its going to be mighty expensive
