Need technical Q/A then you're in the right place

Well ever since ive changed my plugs to dual tip ones the car doesnt seem to be as smooth through the revs, its not misfiring at all.

The plugs in it before were single tip ones, and when i took them out all looked pretty clean.

When i was putting one of the HT leads back on i was holding it at the end of the shaft just were it turns into slim wire, now i heard a slight crack when i was forcing it back on as i bent it a bit, so maybe theres a poor spark there?

So ive now bought some new HT leads, these ones;

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 7995142260

As genuine bm ones were about Ԛ£50 on GSF :?

Are the HT leads the same across the 316/318 pre and post facelift cars? As ive realised these are for cars upto '88 and mines a '90.

could i put the old spark plugs in and see if it runs smooth again? Or is that a bad idea.

Right enough questions! Sorry

Adam

I would just stick the old plugs back in as an easy diagnosis, it it cures the problem, then not much grief

M20 engine doesn't like dual tipped plugs. Don't know if it applies to the M40 as well.

yeah just use the ordinary type plugs, bosch or ngk ones.

early bmw`s don`t like the twin and quad tipped plugs
